Character study: Sabina Borealis

Sabina straightened her back and studied him almost pensively. The girl had the most beautiful eyes. Even in the dim light of the oil lamps, they seemed impossible blue to Pliny. Bluer than the bluest sky that he could see through his tiny window in his cell in high summer. Almost as blue as the sea he remembered from his childhood, when he visited his grandfather’s seaside villa in Herculaneum.
